PUF (polyurethane foam) roof panels are composite building materials with a rigid PUF core sandwiched between two layers of durable outer sheets, typically metal. They are highly valued for their excellent thermal insulation, structural strength, and low weight, which make them energy-efficient and easy to install. These panels are used in a variety of buildings for roofing and walls.

Key components and characteristics
  • Metal sheets: Can be made of pre-painted galvanized steel (PPGS), pre-coated galvanized iron (PCGI), or aluminum.
  • PU foam core: Formed from a chemical reaction between polyols and di-isocyanates, providing excellent thermal and sound insulation.
  • Insulation properties: PUF sheets have a high R-value, which measures their resistance to heat flow, making them highly effective for temperature control.
  • Applications: Commonly used for roofing, walls, and other construction applications, particularly for cold storage, clean rooms, and industrial buildings where energy efficiency and temperature control are critical.

The PUF sheet making process
  1. Raw material preparation: Metal sheets (such as galvanized steel or aluminum) and liquid polyurethane foam are prepared and undergo quality checks.
  2. Foam injection: The liquid polyurethane components are mixed and injected between the two metal sheets, which are held in place by a production line.
  3. Continuous foaming: The liquid foam is evenly spread out by a continuous foaming machine, with temperature, pressure, and flow rate carefully controlled to ensure uniform distribution.
  4. Curing: The panel moves through a curing chamber where a chemical reaction occurs, causing the foam to solidify and bond strongly to the metal sheets.
  5. Cooling and cutting: After curing, the panel is cooled and then cut to the desired size using a band saw.
  6. Stacking and packaging: The finished PUF sheets are stacked and packaged for delivery.
